Committee Members
About the West Hampshire LMC The Committee of the LMC in Southampton & SW Hampshire consists of 14 members elected from 8 constituencies, covering the City of Southampton, Eastleigh Borough, the New Forest District Council area and the southern part of the Test Valley District Council's area. In addition, there is provision for an elected Ophthalmic Medical Practitioner member, a representative of Non-Principal GPs and several other persons, who are co-opted or invited to attend, including Senior Officers from the Southampton & SW Hampshire Health Authority. The LMC meets five times a year, and an Executive Sub-Committee also meets five times a year. This Sub-Committee consists of the LMC Chairman, Vice Chairman, LMC Chief Executive and four other members and it deals with urgent matters and examines areas needing detailed consideration. In addition, members serve on several other Committees both locally and nationally. Elections are held every two years under the terms of the LMC constitution, and all GPs are eligible for nomination and election.
