Susan Chapman
I started out as a mathematician and a computer software engineer. In 1990 I was introduced to patchwork and quilting while living in New
York with my husband and children.
I have been teaching patchwork and quilting since 1998 and, in addition to teaching the City and Guilds course, teach widely throughout the
U.K.
My quilts have received several awards, and most recently my piece “Creation of Woman” featured in Quilt2002 at Alexandra Palace, and I am
the 2003 winner of The Charles Henry Foyle Trust Award for Stitched Textiles.
I have written for a series of small revision primers in patchwork techniques and I am a contributing author of “The Quilter’s Companion”
by Katharine Guerrier.
I have just completed the Diploma HE in Stitched Textiles, with Distinction, from East Berkshire College in Windsor and I am a Licentiate
Member of The Guild of Designer Craftsmen.
I am a practising Contemporary Quilt Artist and have exhibited in the UK, USA, and France. I am a member of “Studio21” as well as “By
Design” and “Zero3”.
