Jackie Nevill
I came to patchwork and quilting after working for 30 years as a scientific officer and deciding to take early retirement.
I undertook the city and Guilds course in Patchwork, Quilting, and Design parts 1 and 2 between 1990 and 1994.
During the following years I have exhibited throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Now residing in Portugal I teach several classes
regularly, and plan and stage exhibitions when possible.
My most recent works have mostly been ecclesiastical in subject.
I am influenced by the natural world, I tend to work with a bright palette, no doubt influenced by the sunnier climate, clear atmosphere
and vivid colours of my surroundings.
In the past I have mainly dyed and painted my own fabrics, probably enjoying the challenge of producing the exact colour due to my
scientific background. For the pieces in this exhibition I have used commercial fabrics.
