Grace Meijer
Although having done crafts and needlework in all shapes and forms from a very early age, I never came across patchwork and quilting.
In 1987 the local adult education in Holland, where we were living, offered a short course in American patchwork, I joined and the rest is
history, as they say.
Early in 1988 we moved to England and I joined the local Quilt group, did my City and Guild part I and part II, and loved every minute of
it.
The C & G has given me the confidence to explore my own way, to me it is like painting with fabrics.
My inspiration comes from nature or sometimes images and words, which I translate, in abstract pieces of work.
The techniques I use are mainly machine piecing and applique, although I love hand sewing and quilting, it is very time consuming.
My work has been published in various magazines and books and I have participated in several exhibitions.
